When it comes down to it, wellness can mean anything. Whether it looks like hiking Runyon Canyon or eating an entire sleeve of cookies, wellness is ultimately about making yourself feel good. So how do you unwind in the congested mess that is Los Angeles? For Cle Cosmetics founder and California native Lauren Jin, wellness means finding peace outdoors and comfort food when her schedule allows. Jin shared her slices of L.A. paradise with us.

Traditional Korean hanjungsik at Yongsusan

Yongsusan specializes in Kaesung and Royal Court cuisine which includes hanjungsik, a favorite for Jin but not easy to find. “It’s a bit pricey, but my go-to place for traditional Korean hanjungsik, multi-course meals with plenty of side dishes.” This type of meal is perfect for groups and the restaurant is only five miles from Common Melrose!

Soak in the Sun at Hauser & Wirth

Outdoor area at hauser & wirthThe international contemporary and modern art gallery Hauser & Wirth has an especially gorgeous space in the downtown Los Angeles art district. In 2018, the Los Angeles Conservancy awarded Hauser & Wirth with the Chair’s award for the preservation of the former flour mill, now a historic landmark. “Even if I don’t see the exhibition,” says Jin, “their outdoor area is great to just sit down and take a moment to soak in the sun and the beautiful architecture.” The museum’s events program includes dance and music performances, film screenings, family activities, maker workshops, and artist-led conversations.

Walk around the Huntington Library

12 miles from DTLA, the Huntington Library is a cultural triple threat, including a museum, botanical garden, and library. Their botanical garden is 120 acres (!) and features 16 themed gardens which sounds ripe for #content opportunities. “Huntington Library is a great area to take strolls and relax,” said Jin. Visitors can also choose from thousands of hard-to-find plants at the annual Spring and Fall plant sale.

Soft Serve at Tea Master

Tea Master’s matcha soft serve has firmly established itself in the Instagram foodie scene, but even more impressive is that it tastes as good as it looks. “It’s the best green tea soft serve,” declares Jin. “Plus, it makes me feel less guilty eating this instead of regular ice cream.” The little Tokyo matcha cafe and green tea shop also offers tea sets, bento lunches, and a very knowledgeable staff. Dedicate an afternoon to exploring the neighborhood!
