Visit the many museums downtown. There are so many, so get tickets to the ones you’re interested in seeing. If you love modern art as much as we do, you’ll enjoy the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and The Broad.
Urban Lights at LACMA: Urban Lights at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is the go-to spot for a quick photoshoot before or after visiting the museum. The 202 historic street lamps located outside on Wilshire Blvd is open to the public, so it’s only fitting to take a photo at one of the most iconic, public light installations in LA. Of course, there are plenty of photogenic spots within them museum itself, so make sure to spend some time inside. Note that the museum is free for LA County Residents on certain days and times!
The Broad: The Broad is Instagram heaven. Most known for its Yayoi Kusama’s “Infinity Mirrored Room” and “Longing for Eternity,” this modern art museum is a treasure for Instagram fiends. From Glenn Ligon’s “Double America 2” to Robert Therrien’s “Under the Table,” you’ll find classic works that are perfect backdrops and conversation starters for your next post. Be aware of the long lines! We suggest visiting the museum as early as you can to get the most out of it.
A bonus if you visit the Broad is that The Walt Disney Concert Hall is right next door. Snap some pictures of the shiny, Frank Gehry-designed venue and its rooftop garden.
Abbot Kinney Blvd
Abbot Kinney Boulevard has more than a couple fashion-forward, boutique shops to drop into. The area’s also filled with hidden photogenic spots for those with a keen eye.
You can snap some great shots at Salt & Straw, the inventive ice cream shop, or at Intelligentsia, a chic coffee bar. Even Warby Parker has nice seating outside its store for a quick rest and a picture with the palm trees.
Wall art is another obvious, but try to find the Venice Canals. These scenic water channels have colorful boats and arched bridges, mimicking those in the real Venice.

Melrose Ave
At Common Melrose, all you have to do is step outside your front door to find Instagram-worthy views. Melrose Avenue features a whole street of beautiful art, delicate cafes, and fantastic restaurants.
Pink Wall at Paul Smith: The classic pink wall is, without a question, an Instagrammer favorite: it’s very bright and very LA. Make sure to use your phone for this one because professional cameras aren’t allowed; you’ll get chased out by the security.
Alfred Tea Room: This spot excels in both its visuals and its product. Forget coffee, their Rose Milk Tea (with boba) and Matcha Dipped Croissants are extremely tasty and Instagrammable themselves. The entirely pink interior with punny slogans everywhere will make you never want to leave.
Catch LA: Brunch time! Catch LA is a local favorite, even amongst celebrities. Every food item on the menu is to die for, so you might have trouble choosing what to order. You won’t have trouble finding a great spot to take pictures though: they’ve got a beautiful, green entryway, outdoor rooftop seating, and well-lit interiors with lush, minty seating areas.
Santa Monica Pier
Though a tourist attraction hotspot, Santa Monica is worth visiting. You’ve got the beach, tons of palm trees, and a fun, wooden pier with a Ferris wheel and timeless restaurants. After you get that perfect shot with the stunning sunset on the shoreline, make sure to visit downtown Santa Monica. Third Street Promenade has dozens of big-name stores, impressive street performers, and a giant shopping mall at the end of it.
Griffith Observatory
Griffith Observatory has got to be one of most iconic landmarks in the city. Its breathtaking view of downtown from its balconies and observation decks make it an obvious location for filming famous movie scenes, as seen in La La Land and Rebel Without a Cause. On a clear day, you see all the way to Palos Verdes, and if you go at night, you’ll understand why LA is nicknamed the City of Stars.
