October in San Francisco is one of the best times of the year. Film festivals, Oktoberfest, and Halloween festivities take place to bring you one of the most fun-filled months. We’ve created a list of some of the best events coming up so you can make the most of your October.

Oktoberfest by the Bay

Inspired by Germany’s Oktoberfest, the Bay Area brings the festivities to you. From October 2 to 5, head down to Fort Mason. Enjoy musical performances, dancing, and singing, with German-inspired food and drinks.

Mill Valley Film Festival

From October 2 to 12, you can head to the Mill Valley Film Festival which offers a high-profile environment for celebrating independent, global films.

Hardly, Strictly Bluegrass

This free music festival runs from October 3 to 5 at Golden Gate Park. They have a huge lineup, so check and see if your favorite artist is there on the app, or discover your next favorite.

When you’ve been making music for as long as Robert Finley has, you know that the key to success is in your instincts. You learn to trust your gut, you learn to trust your ear, and most of all, you learn to trust your company. Fortunately for us, here in 2018 Mr. Finley has all three in spades. The singer lives in the tiny, forgotten town of Bernice, Louisiana, right near the Arkansas line, but in his younger days his music took him all over the world. Joining the Army as a teenager, Finley was sent to Europe as a helicopter technician but found more appealing work as the leader of the Army band, and toured the continent many times over on guitar and vocals. Following his rambling military service, he learned the trade of carpentry and settled back home in the States. He leaned on his gospel and blues songs for a hobby rather than career, and mostly confined his artistry to the streets of the South. But now, in the true spirit of the American Dream, Finley’s music is once again primed to reach doors and shores at home and abroad, as his LP Goin’ Platinum! has been released through Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound. #HSB18

Union Street Harvest Wine Walk

If wine is your game – and why wouldn’t it be since you’re so close to Napa Valley – you’ll want to go to this. On October 5, restaurants and merchants will have food and wine samples along Union Street. You may purchase advance tickets for $25 via the website or day-of tickets for $30 (cash only).

Dia de Los Muertos Festival

If you haven’t celebrated Dia de Los Muertos, you’re in for a treat. Take part in this traditional festival on October 26 in Oakland. The event features different vendors, art and crafts, and memorial altar displays. There’s also food, so go enjoy the cultural festival.
