Your guide to the Seattle outdoors

Weather for the weekend in Seattle is looking great, and it’s the perfect reason to go explore the city.

From parks to hiking to local attractions, Seattle stands out as a city brimming with options for those who love a little fresh air in their lives. Here are a few of our recommendations.

Gas Works Park in Seattle

This 19.1-acre public park is located on the southern tip of Wallingford. While Gas Works stuns throughout the day, we love going at night. It also places you only about a mile from the Fremont Troll. The incredible sculpture was created by 4 local artists: Steve Badanes, Will Martin, Donna Walter, and Ross Whitehead.

PIke's Market in Seattle

Walk the streets of Downtown Seattle and Pike Place Market

The entirety of downtown is relatively small for such a big city, and it’s easily walkable. The city is known as one of the biggest coffee cities in the world, so hop into the mom-and-pops you’ll find along the streets of Downtown. For a more tourist attraction, it’s worth noting that Seattle is the home to the very first Starbucks. You’ll find that outpost in Pike’s Market, along with many other vendors. Interestingly enough, Pike’s Market is one of the oldest operating farmer’s markets in the country dating back to 1907. Come to the market hungry. Pike’s is a great place to uncover local treats and a fantastic arrangement of florals to take back home with you.

Seattle is so close to all of the lush landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. Mount Rainier is in close proximity. The Columbia River Gorge closer to the Oregon border remains one of the most breathtaking views in that entire region. Explore various parks in the area, from Greenlake Park (where you’ll see a lot of activity, from runners to dog walkers and more), Discovery Park with a fantastic view of the Puget Sound, and more.
